Passengers aboard Carnival Dream are monitoring major Hurricane Melissa, now a Category 4 storm south of Jamaica, as the ship continues its 14-day Caribbean itinerary. Dream spent Sunday in St. Maarten and is scheduled to visit St. Croix Monday, enjoy a sea day Tuesday, and call at Ocho Rios, Jamaica, on Wednesday, close to Melissa’s projected path.

According to the National Hurricane Center’s 11 a.m. advisory, the eye of Melissa was located about 110 miles south of Kingston, Jamaica. The hurricane carried maximum sustained winds near 140 mph and was moving west at 3 mph. A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Jamaica, with the NHC warning of “life-threatening and catastrophic flash flooding and landslides” through mid-week.

Carnival has not announced any itinerary changes for Dream or other ships in the region. Guests typically receive updates through the Carnival Hub app, text alerts, or letters delivered to stateroom mailboxes if conditions require schedule adjustments.

Guests can sign up for voyage-specific text alerts during online check-in. Here’s how Carnival’s system works: Carnival Weather Alerts: How to Get Real-Time Cruise Updates.

On board, the mood remains steady. Guests are following official forecasts between meals and shore-excursion chatter, while crew members continue normal operations. In private Facebook groups for this sailing and others, passengers are sharing NHC bulletins and radar images but describe the atmosphere as calm and organized.
